Service Description

Beginner’s Gardening Course at Bentinck Street Community Garden Want to grow your own fruit, vegetables, and flowers? This free, beginner-friendly course is part of the Bentinck Street Community Gardening Project and will give you the essential hands-on skills to start gardening—whether in your own space or within your community. Over six weeks, you’ll learn practical techniques like soil preparation, composting, seed sowing, and plant care, all while enjoying the outdoors and meeting like-minded people. You’ll also play a part in enhancing Bentinck Street Community Garden, making it a greener, more welcoming space for both people and wildlife. This course is completely free for anyone aged 19 and over, thanks to funding from Wirral Lifelong Learning. What you’ll learn: ✔️ Preparing the soil for planting ✔️ Making your own compost ✔️ Sowing seeds and planting a variety of crops and flowers ✔️ Watering, feeding, and pruning for healthy plants ✔️ Managing weeds effectively ✔️ Gardening with the seasons in a sustainable way We’ll provide all the tools and gloves—just wear sturdy outdoor shoes and dress for the weather. Cancellation Policy

Bookings are non-refundable. In exceptional circumstances, when you are unable to attend a session, please contact the Grow Programme Director, who, at their discretion, may allow for an alternative session. Occasionally, where participant numbers have not reached the required number to feasibly go ahead, Grow-Wellbeing may cancel a session, with at least 2 days notice ahead of a scheduled session, and fees will be refunded. Sessions may be cancelled in the event of severe winds or an electrical storm. In the event of this, you will be given the option of an alternative date or a full refund.
