Walking With Trees

The Science, Folklore and Usage of Trees

30 British pounds
Bidston Nature Reserve

Service Description

Do you love walking in the woods but want to know more about the trees around you? Would you like to know the difference between a spruce and a pine? Want to learn more about the many uses of a birch tree? Discover the secrets of the forest - join us on this interactive walk around Bidston Hill where you will learn about the many different trees you may encounter in your local woodland. You will be guided around the landscape with explanation about the indicators of familiar and more unusual trees found in a British wood. There will be opportunity for you to test out your newly learnt tree ID skills using leaf and tree guides and with the help of your guide for the day. We will stop for refreshments during our walk and finish back at our forest camp to gather and to reflect on the session. Come with an open mind and bring your notebooks ready to be inundated (in a good way!) with nature knowledge. There will be plenty of opportunity to ask questions of your very knowledgeable guide. Your guide for this workshop will be tree-enthusiast Kris Willow-Turner. Kris has a degree in Arboriculture (the study of trees) has worked as a tree surveyor and now spends his days in the forest as part of our Forest School Team teaching woodland skills to children and adults.
